The Greater Southern Waterfront project is one of Singapore’s most ambitious ever. This grand vision stretches from Pasir Panjang all the way to Marina East, and is six times the size of Marina Bay.
As part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Master Plan, this large-scale endeavour would be developed in phases.
Concept ideas have already started taking shape sooner than expected.

1. Relocation of ports
All port terminals at Tanjong Pagar and Pasir Panjang will move to Tuas in the future. This will free up the prime waterfront land for varied uses such as new tourist attractions or mixed-use developments with residential, office and retail components.
2. Completing the Circle Line and new MRT Line
The Circle Line will finally become a full circle in 2025, upon completion of three new MRT stations: Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward.
Currently, it takes around 30 minutes to travel from Pasir Panjang to Marina Bay via the MRT. Once the new stations are in operation, you can save up to 10 minutes in travelling time. There are also talks about a new MRT line that could run from Woodlands to the Greater Southern Waterfront.
As part of the Land Transport Master Plan, this new line could cut travelling time by up to 40 minutes, benefit 400,000 households and also service towns like Sembawang, Sengkang, Serangoon North, Whampoa and Kallang
3. Powering up a new Pasir Panjang
Singapore’s largest underground substation will be built at the Pasir Panjang Power District. It will be integrated with commercial development, attracting more businesses to the Greater Southern Waterfront.
Meanwhile, the entire Pasir Panjang Power District has been earmarked to be transformed into an exciting destination for all to enjoy.
4. Linking nature and the sea
Part of the Greater Southern Waterfront’s appeal will be a continuous 30km waterfront promenade that connects all the attractions from West Coast Park down to Marina East.
A new Pasir Panjang Linear Park will serve as a scenic green connector from West Coast Park to Labrador Nature Reserve, as well as plans to link the waterfront to the Southern Ridges for a unique sea-to-hill experience.

5. The new Southern Gateway of Asia
Exciting plans are afoot to rejuvenate Sentosa, Pulau Brani and its surroundings, a precinct branded as the Southern Gateway to Asia. Sentosa could be reshaped for more leisure attractions and investments and to seamlessly integrate with the Greater Southern Waterfront.
Urban planning experts have suggested creating a new reservoir and developing Pulau Brani into a lush island of the future.
6. More vibrancy and life
The Keppel Club site will be redeveloped into a residential zone that will complement its proximity to the sea and the nearby Berlayer Creek and Labrador Park. This will revitalise and inject new energy into the area.
