Are smaller apartments back in the spotlight?

As the world gets bigger, or smaller, with globalisation, housing and property markets are constantly in flux, changing to fit not only with the needs and wants of citizens but also to welcome the ever-changing global community.

Smaller apartments fit into the lifestyle needs of those on the move

In large cities such as London and New York, home buyers sometimes prefer fuss-free smaller homes and the same trend could be transferred here as well.

Rental yields for these small units could often be promising despite high turnover rates as they are easier to find tenants for. There is, however, a need to pay attention to the location of the property and also the quality of development as tenants may have specific lifestyle preferences.

SC Global, for example, has a Petit Collectibles collection tailored for buyers “looking for a lighter lifestyle”. For expatriates exploring the local market, it may be a way to search for a new home before they arrive, and for investors, a means of streamlining their options.

Some of the properties in their current portfolio include Martin No. 38, Thre3 THre3 Robin, The Lincoln Modern and Hilltops. The next project they have in line is Petit Jervois. While these properties may not be large, they are not lacking in style.

Petit Jervois offers buyers simple but stylish living

For one, the limited number of units at the Petit Jervois may already indicate the care developer SC Global is putting into the development.

Focusing on design details such as high ceilings, the flow of natural light and allowing for customisation may put them on the forefront of the next era of global living.

Some of SC Global’s other developments include Sculptura Ardmore, in which Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin owns a 10,300 sq ft super penthouse which he bought for $60 million.

Prices of units at Petit Jervois have not yet been set but is expected to range between $2,800 psf to $3,000 psf.

It is situated in prime district 10, near Crescent girls’ school, Overseas Family School, Chatsworth International School, Dempsey Hill and not far from the Singapore General Hospital and also the River Valley area with the Orchard Shopping belt just a quick drive away.
