Luxury homes belonging to Hollywood stars, TV personalities and even former presidents have exchanged hands over the past 12 months.

1. Barack Obama’s new D.C. home
With the inauguration of a new president in January, Barack Obama had to find a new place to call home.
The home was previously owned by former White House press secretary, Joe Lockhart, who worked for Bill Clinton.
They paid US$8.1 million for the three-storey mansion.
2. Donald Trump’s winter White House
Earlier in the year, Trump moved into the US’s most iconic mansion – the White House – but that didn’t stop him from spending a lot of time at his lavish Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Dubbed his ‘Winter White House’, Trump has spent his weekends here and at one point was criticised for hosting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the resort.
It features 128 bedrooms – just shy of the White House’s 132 bedrooms.
3. Ellen & Portia eye off Mornington home
Earlier in the year, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi showed interest in buying a property on the Mornington Peninsula.
Victoria is de Rossi’s home state, having grown up in Geelong.
A sprawling 20ha estate in Cape Schanck, named Nirvana, reportedly caught their eye.
The home features an office, gym, sauna, wine cellar, horse stables and a solar heated pool.
4. Hadid family mansion
The home of Mohamad Hadid, father to two of the world’s most famous models Bella and Gigi, was listed 12 months ago for US$83million.
While the renowned property developer sold the Beverly Hills mansion to international buyers in 2010, he had been living there after negotiating a lease-back agreement as realtor.com reported.
The epic French-inspired mansion has 10 bedrooms, 14 fireplaces, 15 bathrooms, a swan pond and an infinity pool.
5. Hugh Hefner’s Playboy mansion
Hefner had sold the property a year before his death to billionaire Daren Metropoulos, for $US100million down from the original asking price of US$200million.
As part of the deal, Metropoulos signed a caveat which allowed Hefner and his 31-year-old wife, Crystal Harris, to live at the property for the remainder of the aging publisher’s life.
The 29-bedroom property features a tennis court, pool, waterfall, grotto and holds a zoo license.
6. Kylie Jenner’s property portfolio
Ever since she bought her first home for $US2.6million in 2015, Kylie Jenner has been buying up property like there’s no tomorrow.
But this year she’s been trying to palm off half her property portfolio, listing two out of her four homes for sale.
7. Selena Gomez
It didn’t take long for Gomez to move on from her split with the Weeknd, but there’s one love she perhaps won’t be so quick to get over.
In January, the singer decided to part ways with her beloved Texas home, listing it for $US3 million.
She bought the home less than two years ago to be closer to her family but decided to sell because her busy schedule stops her from visiting often.
The home comes with a putting green, basketball court and resort-sized pool with water slide.
8. Ellen& Portia’s Santa Barbara home
2017 has been a busy year for the A-list couple who, along with looking to buy in Australia, listed one of their LA properties for sale.
They placed their Santa Barbara home on the market for $US45million in March, the price has since dropped to US$39.5 million.
The property is still up for grabs, despite Ellen writing that she wanted to “live here forever” in her 2015 book Home.
The Italian-inspired mansion was built in the 1930s and features a tennis court and pool house with a stone bar and billiards table.
9. The Kardashians & their many homes
It’s hard to keep up with where the Kardashian-Jenner clan are all living, especially when they own so many houses.
While Kylie and Kendall Jenner did a lot of listing and buying in 2017, homes connected to Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner also made the news.
Kim’s Beverly Hills starter house was put on the market along with a house used for filming their reality TV show.
The US$12.23million property may look familiar to you as the façade of Kris Jenner’s home on the show.
10. Kendall Jenner’s condo
Kylie and Kim weren’t the only ones trying to sell starter homes, with Kendall Jenner listing her first apartment in June.
The model purchased the two-bedroom condo in 2014, but listed it because it didn’t have enough closet space.
The asking price was for US$1.6million.
