Simei New Town
Simei New Town is a small estate that lies in the Eastern region of Singapore. It
is located south of Tampines New Town, east of Bedok New Town, and is close to the
Pan Island Expressway and East Coast Parkway.
“Simei” is Chinese for “Four Beauties”. It is named after
the four legendary beautiful women of ancient China, namely Xishi, Yang Guifei,
Wang Zhaojun and Diao Chan. There are plenty of amenities to cater to the needs
of the town’s residents such as East Point Mall, Simei Park, Changi Simei
Community Club and educational institutes like ITE College East (Simei). In addition,
St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital and Changi General Hospital provide residents
in the area quality healthcare services.
Simei lies before the Singapore Expo, a massive complex where international conventions,
concerts and exhibitions are frequently held. It is also close to the industrial
zone of the Upper Changi area; and a stone’s throw away from Simpang Bedok,
a popular local stomping ground with many 24 hour eateries.
