Cove Development takes back Grangeford Apartments
Property owner terminates tenancy agreement after the latter infringes Planning Act
Jun 04, 2009 -

Cove Development Pte Ltd, the owner of Grangeford Apartments will be terminating its tenancy agreement with Ideal Accommodation after the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) had issued Enforcement Notices for unauthorised use of the premises.

Investigations by URA showed that the Grangeford Apartments were sub-divided from the original 141 units to 600 units and subsequently leased to many sub-tenants as a boarding house or hostel use. This infringed the Planning Act and Ideal Accommodation, the master tenant of the premises, has not taken any remedial action to remove all the partitions and cease unauthorised sub-letting.

As a result, Cove Development will be responsible to recover the property effectively and rectify the infringement. The owner has until 27 July 2009 to comply with the enforcement notice.
