The recent launch of a new Housing Development Board (HDB) project in Bukit Panjang provides homebuyers with an additional 474 new flats to choose from. In addition, 300 units in two new rental blocks will be built within the vicinity, under the same contract as the flats offered for sale.

Named Senja Green, the new project offers two- to four-room units priced between S$82,000 and S$270,000 each. HDB’s latest development brings the total of new flats launched for sale this year to 5,000 units, and it plans to launch 8,400 units by year end.

HDB also expects to increase its current stock of rental flats from 42,800 to 49,860 by 2011. Prior to Senja Green, HDB launched Segar Meadows in Bukit Panjang town last November.

Senja Green, located on Woodlands Road, is bounded by Senja Way and Senja Road. The rental blocks, although also sitting on Woodlands Road, is separate from Senja Green and was included in the same building contract “for greater economies of scale, amid rising construction costs”, said HDB.

HDB’s new flats are close to the Ten Mile Junction shopping mall, Senja LRT station, West View Primary School and West Spring Secondary School. The 96 two-room flats measure 505.9 sq ft each and are priced between S$82,000 and S$106,000 each. Meanwhile, the 94 three-room flats are sized at 721.2 sq ft each and cost between S$138,000 and S$170,000 each.

Another option would be 284 units of four-room flats of 1,001 sq ft, going for S$211,000 to S$270,000 each. Homebuyers may also look out for another project in Bukit Panjang, namely the Downtown Line 2, which will be ready around 2015.
