The laid back surroundings of this expat enclave give iproperty staff writer Daniel Seifert much to talk about. Dynamic yet relaxing, Holland Village is home to both Singaporeans and international residents alike.

iProperty: What are the pros and cons of living in this area? Daniel Seifert: The recently opened MRT makes it easier to get around, but also makes the area busier. I’m a big eater, so the abundance of restaurants available is a big plus for me.
iP: Can you tell us a bit about the property you live in? DS: I’m very lucky to live in one of Singapore’s fantastic Black and White bungalow houses. It feels very relaxing to live in a place where Singapore feels quite calm and tranquil.
iP: What would your advice be for people looking to relocate to this area? DS: For me, it would be relatively the same for other areas in that if it ticks the boxes for what you are looking for then great! Whether that is schools, restaurants and bars, good transport or close to the coast.
iP: What is your favourite place for dinner in the area and why? DS: My Sunday night favourite is a little Italian restaurant called La Nonna, which does great pizza.
iP: Do you have a local bar or pub and what’s good about it? DS: Tangos bar has great service, does a mean set of bar snacks and mixes terrific Mojitos. Although many of the bars in Holland Village are good so you do have plenty of choice.
iP: Where do you do your shopping and why? DS: I generally head to Cold Storage at Holland Village as it is the closest for me so I can walk home with my weekly groceries.
iP: Are there any special finds in the area? DS: It is a great spot for coffee and desserts with places like the 2am dessert bar and Da Paolo Deli which do great sweets and treats.
