The Singapore Accredited Estate Agencies (SAEA) was formed by a group of industry professionals with support from relevant government agencies in November 2005.

The objective of the association is to accredit both property agents and agencies.

On 31 July 2007, the Secretariat of SAEA laid out the following points while responding to a written complaint published in The Straits Times forum page on 11 July 2007:

§ SAEA is formed to raise professionalism and competence in the industry.

§ It assists in resolving problems involving unprofessional conducts by real-estate agents.

§ It ensures all agents under the scheme would pass the Common Examinations for House Agents (CEHA) and become accredited agents, by the end of 2008.

§ It takes disciplinary action against agencies and their agents for any breach or non-compliance with the Code of Ethics and the Code of Practice.

The SAEA does not condone the practice of agents avoiding co-broking in order to earn full commission from a customer.
