The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is inviting the public to join in the weekend carnival on 17 and 18 July 2010 that will mark the official opening of Marina Bay waterfront promenade.
Called the Big Carnival@Marina Bay, more than 80,000 Singaporeans and visitors will gather at Marina Bay to participate in games and water activities, and watch performances while enjoying the newly completed waterfront promenade.
The Big Carnival @ Marina Bay is held in conjunction with The New Paper Big Walk @ Marina Bay on 18 July 2010. For the first time, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will flag off The New Paper Big Walk@Marina Bay at 7.30am on Sunday, 18 July 2010 at the Singapore Flyer.
Various events and activities will be held at different locations around Marina Bay, including The Promontory@Marina Bay, the waterfront promenade along Marina Boulevard, and in the waters of Marina Bay.
Admission to the carnival is free.
“The Big Carnival@Marina Bay serves as a fun way to introduce everyone to the attractions along the Marina Bay waterfront promenade. With the new waterfront promenade officially opened and now fully accessible to the public, the Carnival will be a fantastic opportunity for everyone to experience the Bay by the water’s edge and appreciate Marina Bay as a new leisure destination in the city. Everyone’s invited!,” said Cheong Koon Hean, URA’s chief executive officer.
