Talk to help shops in heartland

Jun 05, 2010 - The Straits Times

The Housing Board is organising a seminar next month as part of its efforts to help HDB retailers stay competitive.

Through the seminar, 'The insights of doing heartland business', to be conducted in Mandarin, retailers in the HDB heartland will learn practical tips and best practices to improve their business.

A similar event was held a year ago to help retailers. The inaugural seminar attracted more than 400 participants.

This year, participants will hear from retail specialists and media professionals.

They include Ms Della Ng, associate trainer of Singapore Institute of Retail Studies, Ms Mila Lim, senior lecturer at Singapore Polytechnic, and Mr Chua Chim Kang, chief editor of Lianhe Wanbao.

The seminar will be held on July 16 at the HDB Hub Convention Centre auditorium in Toa Payoh. It is jointly organised with Spring Singapore and the Federation of Merchants' Association Singapore(FMA).

Tickets are priced at $30 per person, with HDB retailers enjoying a concessionary rate of $20.

The public can register at the commercial properties counter in HDB Hub, or call the HDB on 6490-2933 or 6490-2938, or the FMA on 6741-4670.
