To ramp up the private housing supply, the Ministry of National Development (MND) recently announced that it will place 18 residential sites on the Confirmed List of the 2H2010 Government Land Sales (GLS) Programme. In addition, the Reserve List in 2H2010 will have another 13 sites, making for a total of 31 sites available in the second half of the year.

The 18 sites on the Confirmed List can yield a total of 8,135 residential units, which is the highest supply of private housing from the Confirmed List since the Confirmed List/Reserve List system was introduced in 2H2001. The 13 sites in the Reserve List in 2H2010 can yield some 5,770 residential units. Overall, the 31 sites in 2H2010 can generate 13,905 private residential units.

 The 2H2010 GLS Programme will have a total of 27 residential sites and 4 mixed-use sites where private housing can be built. Of the 31 sites, 21 are new sites and 10 sites will be carried over from the 1H2010 GLS Programme.
