According to Lianhe Wanbao yesterday, a Bishan penthouse maisonette was sold for a record $900,000 – the highest price ever transacted for a HDB flat. The transaction included a cash premium of $170,000.

The 1,860 sq ft flat is located on the 24th floor of the block in Bishan Street 24. The 18-year-old flat had a valuation of about $730,000. Bought for $750,000 ten years ago, the owner had an original asking price of $950,000.

The last highest price recorded for a HDB flat was $890,000 for an executive flat in Queenstown in 2008. The 1,614 sq ft flat was located in Mei Ling Street.
