Less JTC space taken up in 2009
Effects of recent recession evident in industrial space segment
Feb 19, 2010 - iProperty.com

The recent recession caused JTC Corp to see a reduction in industrial space taken up for 2009. The net allocation of ready-built factory space saw a decline of -24,800 sqm for 2009, compared with the positive 90,700 sqm in 2008.

This was attributed partly to the business park segment which registered the largest fall in net allocation. However, JTC added that this resulted from “an exceptionally high base in 2008 which benefited from the successful completion and take-up of Fusionopolis Phase 1.”

JTC’s net allocation of Prepared Industrial Land remained resilient at 101 ha in 2009, although it was markedly lower than the 200.9 ha in 2008. According to JTC, “ the performance was supported by a significant allocation in the fourth quarter of 2009 for the integrated yard facility in Tuas as well as steady take-up for Seletar Aerospace Park.”
