The Singapore government has announced that it will release five private residential sites for tender from this February until this April. This is in line with the first half of 2010 Government Land Sales (GLS) programme.

This announcement comes at a time when both private and public home prices have increased considerably despite a recession, pointing to strong demand. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) said the release of these sites and those on the Reserve List will be able to meet any surge in demand. In turn, this is expected to help quell escalating private home prices.

Besides the Tampines site that was released recently, the other four private residential sites to be released by this April are at Boon Lay Way/ Lakeside Drive, Simei Street 3, Sembawang Road/ Canberra Drive and Upper Serangoon Road/ Pheng Geck Avenue.
